@ Al

Dang...that's amazing! But I don't get it: when Indians blow some smoke in the sky, people will come and gather... when I see these Sicilian smoke signals I guess people will rather run away, right? Weird world... ;)

Ciao, Jens

Jens: both you and Le Loup are right to think this could be a dangerous situation.
But Etna is a not explosive volcano, it is almost the year in eruption and ususally there is not any danger. So, it's strange, but during these kind of eruption you can see a lot of people going there to whatch it closely. The Forest department has to close the roads to avoid this.
And I must admit that many among these people come from Germany :D

Al, sure, it's an attraction - and we don't have active volcanos in Germany. If I were in Sicily for holidays I'd take a look at the Etna for sure... and at the City of Corleone, too. It's quite famous to me due to some movies I like ;) :D

@Jens: Etna it's for sure someting to visit, it's the highest active volcano in Europe after all.
But if you will come to visit also the Godfather locations here there is a trick: almost anyone of the movie scenes was took in Corleone. They where all took among my city and Taormina.
This is a couple of links about:
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Der_Pate_(Film)#Dreharbeiten
http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Il_padrino_(film)#Galleria_fotografica_delle_location_siciliane

And this a picture of the bar were Al Pacino talk with Mr Micheli in the Godfather II. It's in an incredible small town, Savoca, on a mountain over the Taormina gulf and the bar has been left as it was in the movie for tourists.
I took a granita there a couple of months ago. :D

So when you will be here don't go to Corleone :D
